Job Title: Roofing Installer
Summary: Repairs and maintains roofs covered with asphalt, tiles, shingles or metals, replaces and repairs drain spouts and gutters, performs routine work independently, refers problems to Foreman for guidance and receives general supervision and may direct the work of Laborers by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Inspects roofs, gutters and drain spouts for leaks and damages and reports to Foreman.*
2. Makes minor repairs during inspections.*
3. Reports structural weaknesses or major renovation needs to Foreman.*
4. Repairs roofs by removing old covering, replacing with waterproofing materials and blending with remaining roof covering.*
5. Cuts roofing paper to size, using knife, and nails or staples it to roof forming base for roofing materials.*
6. Aligns roofing material with edge of roof and overlaps successive layers, gauging distance of overlaps with chalk line.*
7. Fastens composition shingles or sheets to roof with material or nails.*
8. Cuts strips of flashing and fits them into angles formed by walls and intersecting roof surfaces.*
9. Erects and checks ladders.*
10. Repairs and replaces gutters and down spouts.*
11. Unstops roof drains and clogged pipes.*
12. Observes work in progress and follows all safety procedures including the wearing of personal safety equipment.*
13. Cleans up all waste and leaves customer’s site in as good or better condition than when job was started.*
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
One to two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid Driver’s License

General knowledge of the materials used in roofing
